Large and oversize T shirt designs

For any design up to 14×16 inches most screen printers will have no problems or restrictions, however, all over T shirt designs and large T shirt designs can be problematic. Oversize T shirt prints are now becoming more popular than ever, but they do require the correct machinery such as belt printers or even customised hand printing and automatic carousels. They also require a large dryer. Large format autos and belt printers have high set up costs as they require larger screens, bigger film etc, and high minimum orders are required to absorb these costs. So how does a small label get their designs printed the full length of the shirt? Advertees is presently looking at solutions for smaller labels, and the above design is one of  our larger prints produced on a standard size screen, Advertees can supply prints of 40cm x 50cm (avoiding seams if possible), it uses a discharge water based ink for a soft hand, as plastisol ink over such a large area of the shirt would have unsatisfactory and uncomfortable results. We would advise that given the added expense of film print outs that a minimum of 50 shirts would apply to oversize prints. And although we are unlikely to offer all over T shirt prints, we are able to print top to bottom on most T shirt sizes.

Advertees regularly screen print neck labels, and sleeves for small independent labels and bands. the above image shows a sleeve print being applied to an oversize T shirt print.

It is a nice design, certainly one I would consider purchasing. Agreed, it would be horrible in plastic inks. Discharge all the way.

can you do oversized prints in more than one colour?

Our current printer has done designs for us in the past at roughly 36cm width X 58cm length (approx size of a small tee) which can be more than one colour and the ink goes past the bottom seam no problem

can you guys do prints this size?

I found a place that will do up 4 colors. it is a 300 min. but that wasn’t bad compared to the 1,000 min. from everyone else. http://www.24alloverprinting.com

Paul Sorry but one colour is our limit at present due to difficulty keeping designs in register, we are in the process of creating templates to insert inside T shirts to overcome this problem.

Titus Thanks for the link, although not in the UK it is good to see minimums required are going to come down a little perhaps, as the number of machines operating grows.

Hi i it’s great to see that a screen printing company in the UK is trying to perfect larger size print i had a range of t-shirts designed by a US designer,
I was very happy with the designs but when it came to the screen printing it has been a very big problem, i did find a company who did print some of my designs but in plastisol ink which has proved to be a problem as i was not aware of the difference between discharge water based and plastisol ink but i am now, now that i have the shirts they are not the best to wear,

Unlike the US designs i import which are super soft with all over print,
