It can be a never ending shopping list of equipment, but you can produce great screen prints with only the bare essentials. Water based inks are unbeatable for a home set up. Hope you get the results you are looking for.

For a truly opaque white you need to part dry the first print, and then overprint with the same screen again, you can do this with colours too. Water based inks will only require a hair dryer, or heat gun to semi dry your prints before the second coat.( I'm guessing you don't have a flash cure unit in your spare room)try and keep the hot air from getting close to your screen as it could cause you problems of ink drying in the screen.

I just produced my first high opacity white w/b ink onto a dark garment! I'm a hobbyist printer (using the spare room). My print was not as opaque as your result. What tips or best practices do you use to achieve this finish? I used a 32t as the design is quite chunky is this a factor?

Always good to hear people are asking for environmentally friendly t shirt printing.

I understand from TANC's standpoint it was obvious to go for water based, but are you getting more requests for it generally? Are people becoming more aware?

Roy Nottage´s last blog post..What is a Concept Artist?
