Green GoFors go Global!

Just to keep you updated - the green GoFors are a group of Cornwall College students who are studying responsible tourism and are keen to go for carrying out good green deeds!  Our first green activity was the beach clean, we are off to Fifteen today to discuss creating an activity sheet to go on the back of the kids menus with a green theme relating to responsible behaviour on the beach - in September …

The royal Cornwall Show is under way! but sadly I can’t see myself making it down there, nothing to do with the rain! It is just busier than ever and not enough hours in the day. There is now a fox taking an interest in our chickens, we chased him off today and made lots of noise and he was gone. Needless to say the chickens retired early tonight.

Although not ideal in all situations, and the ink a real nightmare to work with at times, water based screen printing can be extremely satisfying. This month has seen a big increase in jobs produced with water based inks, some customers have even changed their original ideas to suit the process. Companies buying Promotional t shirts for the Royal Cornwall this week have been taking the greener option too, with both Okarma and Earth Positive T shirts doing well.

As ever students leave you with very tight deadlines, the final big day for many students is here, and most will still be working on their projects with seconds left on the clock. We are seeing a much better understanding of the processes involved by students, and a more realistic take on what to expect in the way of costs. Maybe I have spoken too soon, next year could see us inundated with unreasonable requests, but this year was good, we enjoyed it.

The Sevenoaks Transatlantic Row will be under way very shortly, Andy Clark and Pete Lumley have left for New York and will be back with us some time in August if everything goes to plan, we are not 100% sure of the exact time of departure, but you will be able to track their progress here Sevenoaks Transatlantic Row in the very near future. Don’t forget Cornwalls air ambulance will be at the Royal Cornwall Show on the weekend starting 5th June. You can support them in many ways, but obviously we are going to recommend their organic promotional T shirts. The latest print run has used a new opaque white water based ink, rather than the discharge system, it is proving incredibly flexible washes well and can be ironed, we are experiencing some ink curing/stiffening in the screens due to the warm weather, but not enough to warrant use of the retarder just …

The most thoroughly road tested T shirt of my entire collection, this Surftwisted Organic T Shirt has been in and out of the washing so many times over the last 2 years it is now a very pretty pink colour, the water based print is pretty much as good as the day it was printed. I love these kind of T shirts, it has so many memories attached to it now it may have to be stored away somewhere safe, for revisiting sometime in the future.

Our new range of water based inks are performing really well, and customer responses have been good too. We have also been trying out phthalate free plastisols from the same manufacturer with some great results. A refreshingly straight forward single colour waterbased T shirt print was produced for Treasure London this week. They provide bespoke treasure hunts through London suitable for corporate team-building events. London is perhaps a little too far to send the Advertees team, but maybe a Blackwater treasure hunt could be organised?
